Temple Coffee Home Brewing Guide: Pour-Over
Temple Coffee Home Brewing Guide: Home Drip Machine

Pour-Over (Single Cup Cone Filter) A pour-over is an easy way to make a good single coffee. The key to getting great results are: using high quality fresh beans, correct grind, and filtered water.

Equipment: cone, coffee, a filter, a grinder, a cup for waste, and a mug for your coffee.

  1. Place the cone on your waste cup. Fold the filter at its seams and place it inside the cone.
  2. Bring the water to just under a boil (195-205 F.) Run hot water through the filter to rinse the out the paper flavor and preheat the cone. Allow the water to drain completely.
  3. Add the coffee to the filter. The coffee needs to be ground medium-fine with a quality burr grinder (not a blade grinder). We recommend 2-3 tablespoons of fresh ground coffee to make 8oz. of brewed coffee.
  4. Pour just enough water into the cone so that it saturates the grounds, allowing the fresh coffee to bloom. It is important to saturate all the grounds evenly by moving the stream as you pour.
  5. After 15 seconds, it is time to pour the rest of the water. Pour it evenly in a spiral to break down the bloom and allow for even extraction. The color of the grounds should be evenly colored.
  6. Once you have brewed 8oz. of coffee in your cup, quickly move the cone to the waste cup and allow to drain completely. Enjoy!
